Last photo - Lita's by Jeffery Campbell

Hello! It's been an age since I last posted, but here I am at last - hurrah! It's certainly turning colder here, but not nearly as cold as what I hear England has been like recently. Blimey. Snow and gales from the sounds of it, I'm not looking forward to that at Christmas.

LA has been treating me well and I've been busy working on the shop, amongst other things. The weather is great and I'm really loving Echo Park, despite it being a bit shabby it's full of cool things and places. A few months ago I went to see 'Florence and the Machine' at a free concert in a record store just down the street from my house. Everyone was out on the pavement listening as the record store was about the size of a cupboard. It was so fantastic, that's what I love about the area, there's always something happening.

One purchase I have made over here was these lovely Lita's from Jeffery Campbell. I've been seeing them all over the blogs but I absolutely love them and they are so comfortable, can you believe? Plus they make me super tall, and at 5ft4 that's not such a bad thing! News on the shop is that a big update is coming very very soon and I'll be counting down the days, plus showing you a sneak peek. There's some really gorgeous things and I'm very excited. What's your news?

Thrifted Favourite Things

One of the things I've been asked to post up on the blog is what I've picked up in thrift stores while I've been here in The States. I'm yet to post up any clothes but here are a few bits and bobs I managed to get my hands on - plus a few other things I sneaked in there such as the pastel American Apparel nail varnish that I'm now obssessed with. Don't you love the new shades?

I've found some great nick-nacks, like the milk glass mug and cute 60s vanity case - at bargain prices too. I couldn't help myself with that hideous/cute swan plant pot which I now keep my change in. I also picked up this gorgoeus 1920s dish thing which I love - isn't it a great colour? Plus I included a picture of my collection of brooches and pretty pill boxes that I got in England or inherited as I've been meaning to for a while now.

What have you thrifted recently?

Eastside LA

Dress: Vintage
Belt: Thrifted
Bag: Out of The Closet Thrift Store, Hollywood
Shoes: Target
Locket: Vintage heirloom

As you can see the weather has been wonderful - but apparently it's been hotter in England with a freak hot spell. I'm based over on the Eastside LA as the West wasn't really my type of area. It's really cool actually, though it is a poorer, shabbier (cheaper!) area of town but it's full of artists, musicians, fashionista's, designers and hipsters. There are tons of really cool cafes, restaurant's, bars and boutiques so I usually hang out locally and don't venture over to Hollywood unless I have to (it's very dull). Plus there are lots of vintage shops all over the place in pockets of the area that are all independently run and stuffed full of fantastic pieces - it's hard not to be tempted!

I'm staying right by a lake too that's surrounded by palm trees and has a thriving mass of bird life and fish that habitat it. I actually saw not one but two turtles poke their heads out - very exciting! Also there's a whole brood of baby ducklings frantically following their mum around the lake. I've seen two hummingbirds now too and am hoping to get a hummingbird feeder next week! Well, you don't see them at home do you?

Oh, and the last picture is of Violet our cat. We live with a cute little dog too called Strummer who will also be making her blog debut very soon! I've never had any pets before so living with animals is just the best to me.
